Lil Bit Nola - Virginia Beach, VA

Updated: Aug 21, 2025

After hours of driving to Virginia Beach, what better way to end a day than eating a nice meal at Lil Bit Nola. Lil Bit Nola is a New Orleans Oyster Bar & Restaurant that rightfully represents good southern food.

For the appetizer, I ordered the Mardi Gras Shrimp; a plate of ten fried shrimps tossed in a honey citrus pepper sauce. The sweetness of the shrimp was present and delicious, with what tasted like one drop of citrus juice. Amazing how the restaurant was able to make something as fishy as shrimp taste like candy.

When ordering an entrée, there were so many options. Po'boys, gumbo, and jambalaya, the staples of good Creole food. With all of these tasty options, my eyes couldn't help but keep staring at the Honey Cajun Salmon. The entrée came with cornbread, cheesy grits, a bowl of chef's vegetables, and honey Cajun salmon. The cheesy grits tasted more buttery than cheesy, and at times felt like the texture of sand. As a picky vegetable eater, the chef's vegetables were surprisingly good. The savory smell of garlic and spices filled my nose once the waitress placed it on the table. Thankfully, the scent matched the taste.

And for the superstar of the plate, the honey Cajun salmon. Many of us have tasted salmon, but we tend to avoid them because they're always dry. Even the gym rats or weight loss weirdos (don't get offended, I'm one of you) who like to order healthier options when eating out would rather go with a salad than dry salmon. But this one right here is a chef's kiss. The mix of sweet and spicy flavors came together in this seafood dish. The salmon had a burnt crispy exterior with a soft juicy interior. Of course, the burnt Cajun and honey on the edges of the salmon was the best part.

When eating here, you begin to notice how relaxed the space is. It felt like I was down south with my family having a Thanksgiving dinner again. The staff members were very polite and the setup of the restaurant felt like an at-home barbeque with wooden tables, an open bar, and football entertainment.

Overall, Lil Bit Nola's is a cool place to dine in. The southern nature and hospitality are present in the staff members, and the food was good. Lil Bit Nola's dining experience was great in bringing calmness to tired nerves after a long day of traveling and having some unfortunate events at a hotel I booked for my stay.
